We opened Semal in 2026, in forests of Central India. It began as a simple idea. A home in the jungle where people who love wild places can come together, slow down, and just be.
There are five rooms. That is deliberate. It means we know you personally, and we can look after you properly rather than hand you a key and a list of activities.

Early starts, flasks of coffee, and a jeep booked before you arrive. We handle the permits and the paperwork so your morning belongs to the forest.
How a safari day runs
Slower than a safari and often better for it. Walk out from the gate with us and learn the trees, the alarm calls, and the tracks left overnight.
Walk with us
Dinner, then a fire under an open sky. This is where the jungle gets loud and the conversation gets good. Nobody is in a hurry to go to bed.
Evenings here
The Semal is tall, strong, and known for the bright red blossoms that light up the forest before the heat arrives. It felt like the right symbol for what we wanted to build. Something rooted, resilient, and beautiful in a quiet way.
We call it wildly peaceful. The wild energy of the jungle just outside your door, and a deep sense of calm once you step inside.

Lunch, then the slow hours. Tea from the counter whenever you want it, a book from the mezzanine library, the fan turning above the living room.
Dinner cooked in our own kitchen, then the fire. Distant calls from the forest, and everyone wondering what is happening out there in the dark.
She started as an independent wildlife guide, worked for years on conservation outreach with the Forest Department across Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench and Panna, and ran a large lodge before deciding she wanted something smaller and warmer instead.
